A Visit from our New Caledonian Friends

42 students along with a group of teachers and parents from St Joseph de Cluny School La Conception,  have visited once again. They have been coming every second year since 1998. The children are billeted with school and parish families. This provides for a rich exchange of cultures.

Lots of photos are available on our Facebook page.

Duffy Theatre Enjoyed by All...

Duffy, King of Books’, Written by Rachel Callinan & directed by Jeff Szusterman

This year Duffy and his friend Rosie excitedly await a visit from Duffy’s famous, rugby league playing uncle, Bingo. They are taken aback however when they begin to learn that Bingo isn’t a big fan of books and maybe can’t read at all! With ideas from the audience and Duffy’s King of Colours book, the pair go on a journey to help Bingo learn the importance of reading and the benefits it can have for everyone, everywhere.  Together, Duffy and Rosie sing and stumble their way through to the realisation that everyone has a different favourite story and that each person’s story is just as awesome as the next.

Reading Together - a well researched, highly effective programme that helps parents help their children with reading. A good number of mums and dads are taking part in this four part programme. These particular sessions are in the afternoon at 1.30pm, giving parents a chance to meet up and work with their child before the end of the school day.Feedback has been excellent. If you are interested in joining a group contact Mrs Valerie Anderson our deputy principal.

35 years on...A new lease of life

The original blessing and opening of the library was on 24 June 1979. 35 years later the building has been transformed in to a modern learning environment. On 24 June 2014 the building was rededicated by Monsignor Bernard Kiely, Vicar General and old boy of the school. He was joined by special guests Sr Rossello Pepper, past principal and Mr Basil Hafoka, the original architect, old boy, past parent and grandparent of the school. Also attending the ceremony were Deacon Dave Randall, board chair and old boy and Mr Simon Randall, old boy and chair of the Tamaki-Maungakiekie Community Board.
